Contact information: el3940@wayne.edu

Major: Nursing

Visual Media Project:  Literary fairy tale The Grimm Brother's version of Cinderella compared to Disney's Cinderella.

Visual representation of the fairytale: Not quite sure but I wanted to compared the story version of The Grimm Brother's views which are very blunt and gruesome about the story even with Cinderella's image compared to how Disney portrays it.

THE FINAL PAPER FAIRY TALE CHOICE:

-Little Red Riding Hood

Beauty and The Beast

Beaumont's tale compared to Alex Flinn's book Beastly

  • US culture changed the meaning of this tale while still keeping its concept.

Secondary Sources:

Hearne Beauty and the Beast Visions and Revisions of an Old Tale.pdf

Talairach-Vielmas Beautiful Maidens Hideous Suitors.pdf

The third source is a book from the UGL:

Adams, Jeff. The Conspiracy of the Text: The Place of Narrative in the Development of Thought. London: Routledge & K. Paul, 1986. Print.

Here is the link from my online library search for this book: http://elibrary.wayne.edu/record=b2537875~S47

Possible Thesis please tell me which of them sound best to use as my thesis. Thank You!

  • The evolution in culture within a fairy tales ATU-510 that the U.S has changed the meaning of the tale Beauty and the Beast for modern adaptation.
  • The evolution in cultures within the tale Beauty and the Beast for modern adaptation of U.S cultures.
  • The evolutional changed within the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast has been effected by the United States modern ways causing change in the meaning of the fairy tale's rise and climax scale to fit the adaptations of its cultures.

I'm just wondering if I am in the right direction with my paper, for the fourth page I began to get writer's block and I had to set away from my paper to recollect my thoughts. The fourth page I was going to incorporate the two scholarships that I've chosen.

Both Hansel & Gretel AND Cinderella are acceptable fairy tales for this project!

It looks like you are comparing Rackham's illustrations (from the 1800s) and Disney's. That's great!

Red Riding Hood has a lot of new adaptations - great for exploring the evolution of a fairy tale.

This is a great fairy tale and I like the modern adaptation you're exploring! What secondary texts are you considering for this tale?
