Visual Analysis: I am thinking of doing Beauty and the Beast.
I am trying to decide between a few different illustrations. I think I want to compare and contrast the way the beast is usually portrayed (in Disney and many old illustrations) with one or more of these illustrations:

That's a great fairy tale, and there are a LOT of visual representations of that tale to analyze! In fact, Hearne did a case study on this fairy tale, compiling different variations (including illustrations). She also has a good article with some illustrations.

Wow, these are really loaded images (a LOT of potential readings you could do here (from the way Beauty has no shoes in the first image, to her body position in the other two - regarding her attraction to the Beast). Looking forward to how you compare this with the literary tale!

This is a good working thesis. As you revise, think about ways to make it more specific. How are gender roles revised? And what is the significance of this?
