THESIS:

Throught the evolution of Cinderella young girls are lead to beleive they will not be marriage material unless they wait around for a man to find them, never stand up for themselves, and learn how to clean.

( i need help with my thesis) not sure how to word everything i mean to say

i want to talk about how she has a horrible step mother and step sister but never stands up for herself, she needs the help from others to get out of a bad situation

she is always doing housework and does not have a career or any power, she is symbolic of a house wife

and she never goes out herself to find the prince he has to find her even though she knows he is looking for her

There is a ton of media associated with Cinderella! Your only issue will be focusing on something specific to analyze!

This is a great image. Looking forward to how you compare this with the literary tale!

I think the evolution of Cinderella is a great topic! As you're thinking about the evolution of the ideal woman (because the 510 tale is about finding a woman who is the "perfect fit" - thus the motif of a shoe/ring/something that she fits perfectly), you may want to consider the use of magical helpers (like we discussed after class). There are a lot of WONDERFUL sources on this topic!

These are great sources! What modern sources are you considering (to build your argument about the evolution - or lack of evolution - in this fairy tale)?

You have some good ideas for this thesis! Cinderella is classified as a ATU 510 tale: "Magic Helper." Does the form of the tale (the magic helper) shape the passivity of the heroine? And have recent Cinderellas maintained this classification?
