For my final project: I am thinking about doing the Snow Queen and comparing it to the new movie Frozen in how they transformed the snow queen from a villainous woman into a heroine.

Aside from parting from the original narrative of Hans Christian Anderson's "The Snow Queen," Disney's "Frozen" changes the tale by challenging the traditional gender roles of women in undermining romance as well as in rewriting the villain into a remarkably relatable and likeable heroine.

This is a great topic! The dramatic change between "The Snow Queen" and "Frozen" is remarkable (and yet there are a lot of recognizable tropes). Disney refigures women (and nature?) in their movie. And the sources look good (even the one I can't see)! Both fairy tales undermine romance, but in dramatically different ways.

There has been some good work on the re-writing of female villains in recent fairy tales.

You may want to think about "female kinship" and the role that has played in the last TWO Disney movies (and how that undermines fairytale expectations - most fairy tales have malicious female kinship).

Good thesis! I especially like the way you examine the shift from romance to familial bonds.
